Now that we've laid the ground work, we are ready to make inferences about our text. On Day 3, students are challenged to think beyond the lines on the page. We teach inferencing this way:
What You've Read + What You Know = Inference
Each day, we briefly review the previous day's discoveries. This will suffice for the "what you've read" review. The teacher can then ask students well selected questions to get them thinking about what they know about this topic/idea. After a brief discussion, students should be ready to answer an inferencing-based question.
