January Amnesia

um...I think...Suzanne

Happy 4 days until Christmas break!  Although you're approaching two weeks off with reckless abandon, there might be a slight fear in the back of your mind- the fear of January Amnesia.  It is characterized by blank stares, cocked heads, and in extreme cases, a little drool.  That's right, it's not pretty.

What are some things you can do to ward off this epidemic?  Consider these activities that "anchor" learning:
-Connect the Dots- reflect on four important texts you've read this semester.  Students will have these notes and connections that they can add to in spring.

-Review terms from your visual dictionary- turn them into a game for easy, pre-break engagement.  Read through some of our favorite games here.

-Ink Think major concepts or characters to make learning visible.

-Have students create anchor charts for key strategies learned.

-Get pages and brains turning with an interactive notebook scavenger hunt.

Drink plenty of water, get lots of rest, and know that you've done what you can to prevent that post-break blank stare.
