Teachers don't operate on a regular calendar. When we use the term next year, we mean the one starting in August. This one that rolls around every January is the start of a new semester...not a new year. It's a wonder our non-teacher friends put up with us!
That said, the actual and legitimate start of 2015 is exciting and packed for The Curly Classroom, and we'd love to meet you!
Join us at TCTELA on January 23rd-25th in good ol' Houston. Suzanne and I will be presenting on Saturday, the 24th at 4:15. Nothing would thrill us more than to have some Curly friends in our session. If you've never attended, TCTELA is great fun. Grab one or two of your best teacher buds, ask your principal to send you, and get ready for an awesome weekend of learning, networking, and getting new ideas for your classroom.
In February, we will head to Suzanne's alma mater--ACU--in Abilene. There, we will have a chance to meet with pre-service teachers and share some of our experiences and Curly strategies to help equip them for their soon-to-be classrooms.
Soon after that, we will head back to the Houston area to attend and present at TALE (Texas Association for Literacy Education), an affiliate of the IRA (International Reading Association). We would love to see you there!
We are so excited for what 2015 may bring, and we wish you the happiest of holidays...and a happy new semester!
